Art Room 509 is Spokane’s creative art space for curious beginners, experienced makers, and everyone in between. You don’t need to be an artist to join in. Just come ready to create and have fun.

At Art Room 509, creativity is for everyone. Whether you are brand new to art or looking to grow your skills, this is your space to relax, explore, and create without pressure or judgment.

From paint and sip nights and kids art camps to hands-on artist workshops and custom group experiences, you will have the chance to experiment with techniques, build confidence, and practice your skills in a fun, low-stress environment guided by expert instructors.

Meet the Owner

About Stacey Desautel Gonzales
Meet Stacey Desautel Gonzales, the artist and educator behind Art Room 509. With nearly 30 years of experience teaching art from Pre-K through college, Stacey has inspired thousands of students across Spokane and the Inland Northwest.

Her passion for art began in Prosser, Washington, where she sold her first pieces as a middle school student. Since then, Stacey has explored nearly every medium imaginable, including painting, ceramics, printmaking, jewelry-making, and textile art. She has even directed large-scale murals with Spokane youth, including one commissioned for the City of Spokane.

Her teaching career includes positions at Southridge High School in Kennewick, as well as Spokane schools such as Salk Middle School, Havermale High School, Shadle Park High School, and several elementary schools including Woodridge, Finch, Browne, Westview, Longfellow, Willard, Hutton, and Hamblen. She has also shared her expertise at Eastern Washington University.

At Art Room 509, Stacey brings her lifelong love of art and education into a space where everyone is encouraged to explore, create, and find joy in the process.
